INFORMATION
I currently hold appointments via Skype or WhatApp (webcam or audio). However, if you'd prefer to use Zoom or Google Meets, then please feel free to set that up and send me the invitation link and I will join you at the appointment time.
If you would like to book a session, or would like some more information then please get in touch via the contact page or via e-mail eleanor@onlinepsychologists.co.uk and I will get back to you as soon as possible. My hours in terms of availablity are typically 8am to 7pm (GMT)
Monday to Friday.
What to expect at the Initial Assessment / Subsequent Sessions
A collaborative (client and clinical psychologist) understanding about what is happening and why, is not something you can typically achieve in one session.
At the first appointment, I tend to be quite directive (asking questions about your difficulties / family / school/work experiences). This is so that you can get a sense of who I am, with my questions and responses. (If it becomes clear that you want to use the first appointment (or any other session) to explore your immediate feelings / reactions, we adapt together). We will discuss what difficulties you are having, consider why they may have arisen and what is stopping you from moving forward. We will develop a collaborative joint understanding of what is going on for you, and have an idea of the goals of the therapy.
Subsequent sessions will focus on helping you take that step forward, towards your goal.
We review every session with what has been helpful or not helpful about the previous session. I usually ask “Did you reflect on the last session? How has that made a difference? What helped and didn’t help?” My view is that we are both experts in very different ways; ultimtely, you are the expert of your feelings, experiences, and coping strategies (helpful or not).
Fees
Individual Therapy:
Standard £90 per session (50 minutes)
For French / Eurozone residents, I charge €70 (50 minutes)
Clinical Psychology Assessment with Report:
£320 (2x assessment sessions and report)
Fees are payable in advance of the session time, upon receipt of my invoice. Payment can be made via bank transfer or via credit card using the Stripe payments platform, (For Stripe, you’d be sent an email with a link to pay by credit card). Alternatively, I also use PayPal if that is more convenient for you.
How many sessions will I need?
I can’t answer that without meeting you. It all depends on what the problem is. However, I work within approaches, such as CBT (including 3rd wave therapies) or Solution-Focused therapy, all of which are considered to be brief therapies.
There is no need to make a financial commitment to therapy with me (pay x many weeks upfront etc.). You are free to end our therapy at any time.
Cancellation Policy
Please be respectful of my time. Late cancellations (under 24 hours notice) or non attendance will be charged the full session fee. Late cancellations mean that I’m unlikely to fill that session time. I try to be as flexible as possible if the cancellation is unavoidable and will offer an alternative time as soon as I can.
Ethics and Confidentiality
I have an ethical duty to keep what we discuss confidential unless a) you give me permission to disclose or b) I have reasonable grounds to believe that you or somebody else is at risk of harm. For children / adolescents, the confidentiality extends to parents / legal caregivers depending on the age of the adolescent.
